Come and join us for an evening of Buddhist films and social gathering at the Rigpa NYC center’s “Movie Night”.

On Friday July 26th at 7pm, we will be screening “The Lion’s Roar: The Life and Times of H.H. Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, the 16th Karmapa”, a documentary about the life, teachings, and death of the 16th Karmapa, His Holiness Rangjung Rigpe Dorje.

Narrated by James Coburn, you will enter the world of this spiritual master, who heads the Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism, and explore all of the rituals and religious significance of his work. This documentary takes you to India, to see where the Tibetan leader fled, and other locales of his various travels. There are interviews with high lamas of the Buddhist religion who speak of the 16th Karmapa’s works and influence in Tibet and beyond. Also, as the viewer learns about the life of this religious leader, they will also discover some of the basic beliefs and principles of the Buddhist faith.

Please enjoy this beautiful film with us. Bring your friends, and something to eat or drink for our potluck table.
